STREET ART

Beautifying the hood

Who could be better than Mexican painter Frida Kahlo taking a selfie, while wearing her crown of flowers, a colorful hoodie and a button that says "I Love The BX" to bring colors to a part in the Bronx that never sees tourist. Accompanied by surrealist Spanish painter Salvador Dali who wheres a tradition Liberty crown while signing out his peace gang sign.

My first experience using air spray, after years of using it on Photoshop I decided to get my hands dirty and in the foreground, my two must precious creations, Roselin and Jacob-Esau.

Art in the time of COVID

Amid ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Governor Cuomo issued an executive order requiring all people in New York to wear masks or face coverings in public.

To avoid Frida Kahlo and Salvador Dali from getting a fine for public disobedience, I proceeded to add a mask on the two faces on the mural. It also brought awareness to the community of the importance of keeping our distance and staying protected on a time when very little was known about the virus.

Get your knees off
our necks

On May 25, 2020 in the middle of a pandemic George Perry Floyd Jr. was murdered by a Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin, during an arrest after a store clerk suspected Floyd may have used a counterfeit $20 bill. A bystander records the 9 minutes and 29 seconds Chauvin kept his knee on Floyd's neck while he was handcuffed.

A wave of protest spread over the country. The fist represents solidarity and unity. The veins outline the African roots that link us all to the origin of Adam. The plant the fruit of our work.

'No one is too small to make a difference'

This mural with Environmental activist Greta Thunberg holding the world in her hand and showing a gesture of passing it to her audience and save it from the pollution behind her is located at the Public School 206 Jose Celso Barbosa

The Great Wall of Colors

A 40 X 8 feet family sketchbook, where Roselin, Jacob and myself practice larger than life art.

The elephant that sneezed clouds

A Thailand memory to remind myself of the wonderful time spent there.

This is the origin of the clouds that connect the mural.

Childsplay

There is no better way to spend an afternoon that painting on a huge metal canvas with the company of your children while listening to merengue, bachata, salsa and Jazz.

Doves in her hair

The oranges face is inspired by an art by Candido Bido. The symbols on the leaves are hieroglyphs from the Tainos, the native groups from the Caribbean.

Calaca y su Cantina

The first art on the wall and is not yet finished, it was inspired by the Coco movie. There are still a lot of white lines and flowers to be added to the white canvas of the skull. This is where my left over black paints ends up.

When fish fly

To live in fear is not living. Is surviving. So if you feel like a small fish in the sea, grow some wings and jump out, so you can taste the nectar life has to offer.

A melting graffiti of R2D2 on partial brick wall that covers a scene capture from Dominican artist Candido Bido's painting along with the painters iconic golden sun.
